Obituary
Edwin Birdsall, Sr., passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born on September 1, 1927, in Scotts, Michigan, to the late Delbert and Jennifer (Grohvert) Birdsall. Early in life, Edwin joined the United States Army and proudly served his country as a Military Police officer during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked for the Brown Paper Company for much of his career. On November 26, 1952, Edwin married the love of his life, Frances (Andersen). Together they shared a long and devoted marriage until her passing in 2022. Edwin had many passions, none greater than his love for God. He was an active member of the Church of Christ, where he faithfully served as a Deacon and later as an Elder. In his free time, Edwin was an avid gardener and enjoyed operating his own vegetable stand for many years. Surviving Edwin are his children, Diana (Neil) Barnhart, Edwin (Laura) Birdsall, Jr., and David Birdsall; along with numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; his daughter, Joyce; his grandson, Brian Sweet; and four brothers and two sisters. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 622 South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Following the service, a graveside committal will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
