Obituary
Edward "Eddie" Koren, passed into eternal glory on Christmas Eve 2025 surrounded by his family in Cary, NC. Born on June 9, 1939, in Kalamazoo Michigan, the eldest son of Steve and Margaret Koren and brother to Bob. Ed was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Kalamazoo Central where he sang in the choir. He had a lifelong love of music and classic cars. He worked in the family business, Koren's Standard Service. He enjoyed telling us of the many customers who frequented the service station and explained to us what "Full Service" meant. This is where Eddie's appreciation for cars was formed and in 1960 he bought a red corvette and picked up the handle "Eddie Corvettie". Ed traded his love of cars for his family.
On March 5, 1965, he married Virginia "Ginny" Watkins who he met at a local sports car club event. Together they moved all over America and had many adventures. In 2025 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Ed was the proud father to Micheal Steers (Lena), Rob (Julie) and Nick (Stephanie). He was the grandfather to Jonica, Nick, Justin, and Parker; great grandfather to Mark, Ava, and Max.
In 1972 Ed moved his family to Florida to live the beach life and it was there that he started remodeling houses, first his own and over the next 40 years countless others. Ed loved his customers and they loved him. Ed's craft served him well and he was a "get it done and done right" kind of guy. Ed always had work and if things slowed down he would move where the action was.
Ed was a great example of a Christian man to his boys and never moved anywhere there wasn't a church for his family to attend. Ed lived his faith by actions and never met a stranger. He was always lending a helping hand to whoever needed it, fixing broken down cars, giving shelter to the stranded, and a meal to anyone hungry. Ed loved a McDonald's breakfast or danish sweet roll to start the day and a bowl of ice cream to end it.
In Eddie's later years he took great pride in taking care of Ginny and loved to tell the neighbors and anyone who would hear him out, about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
