Douglas "Doug" Arlo Daugherty, age 83, of Grand Haven, Michigan, born October 21, 1938, passed away peacefully in his home March 21, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children. Doug spent 23 years as plant manager at Waddell Manufacturing in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and later 14 years at Great Lake Woods in Holland, Michigan. He was also very proud of his work at Gibson Guitars in Kalamazoo in his younger years. Doug was a proud Marine who loved to share the stories of his time in the service with the 5th Marines, especially of his 150 mile march from the desert to the sea. Doug had a passion for woodworking and built many custom interior projects and gifts for his family and close friends. He also enjoyed camping and took many trips throughout the United States and Canada. Doug was preceded in death by his parents Ortha "Doc" Daugherty and Thelma Daugherty, sisters Jean Daugherty and Joanne Johnson, mother and father-in-law, Carroll and Violet Bliss, sister in-law- Judith Crawford and mother of his son's, Merline Gail Daugherty. Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Linda, children Brian (Brenda) Daugherty, Brent Daugherty, Jennifer (Randall) Long and Angela (Tim) Hanrahan. Grandchildren Michael (Christie) Daugherty, Bradley (Allie) Daugherty, Jessica Daugherty (Tyler Ratering), Nichole (Christian) Helderop, Brittney Daugherty (Shawn Wind), Madelynn Ousley, Taylor Long, Jacob (Tia) Gould, Kaylie (Chad) Vanderhoff, Emily (Eric) Kruse, Kaitlyn (Mark) Dean, Kassandra (Dan) Erickson and Keegan Hanrahan (Rachael Rowley) and 22 great grandchildren. Also surviving Doug are his brother and sister-in-law, William "Bill" and Brenda Daugherty as well as his nieces and nephews that he dearly loved. A Celebration of Life service will be held at United Methodist Church of the Dunes, 717 Sheldon Road, Grand Haven, Michigan 49417 on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM, family visitation at 10:00 AM prior to the service. n lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Charles A Conklin American Legion #28, Grand Haven, Michigan or Grand Haven Elks Lodge #1200, Grand Haven, Michigan.
