Dorothy Nidy

Dorothy Mae Nidy, 88, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Centrica Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Dorothy was born on March 21, 1938 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to parents Floyd and Caroline (Buchach) Niles.

On August 24, 1963, Dorothy married Eldon Nidy in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sadly he passed away on January 24, 2021.

She was a graduate of Mattawan High School and soon thereafter she became employed at Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo for many years. After the birth of her twin daughters, sadly one passed away shortly after birth, Dorothy became a devoted homemaker and did so with the most loving and gracious heart. She loved to tend to her vegetable and flower gardens, carnations being her favorite flower. She was also an excellent cook with fried chicken being a family favorite along with apple pie. Dorothy loved doing nothing more than taking care of her family, above all else she adored her grandsons.

Dorothy is survived by her loving daughter, Theresa (Ken) Germain of Schoolcraft, Michigan, her grandsons; Casey Germain of Schoolcraft, Michigan and Cameron Germain of Schoolcraft, Michigan; her siblings, Robert Niles of Oshtemo, Michigan and Margaret Sage of Baldwin, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter Angela, and her brother Raymond Niles.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
