Lucas, Doris Kalamazoo Doris Mary (Osborn) Lucas passed away on April 30, 2022, at the age of ninety-eight. Doris was born to Muir and Ethel (Weatherwax) Osborn on January 10, 1924, in Pavilion Township, Michigan. Doris enjoyed a wonderful childhood on her family's farm and liked to share stories about her one room schoolhouse, sleigh rides, making maple syrup, the fall apple harvest, and many more. Doris graduated from Vicksburg High School and Western Michigan University. She married William Lucas on December 26, 1944, and together they raised three children. Doris and Bill lived in Michigan for most of their married life but resided in New Jersey, Louisiana, and Arkansas at various times. Doris was accomplished at sewing, cooking and playing bridge. She enjoyed making new friends, gathering recipes, and learning about the traditions and history of places where she lived or visited. Doris performed office work at times but providing a beautiful home and spending time with family and friends were her main joys. Doris was predeceased by her parents Muir and Ethel, her husband William, her son Dr Matthew Lucas, her sister June Frost, her brother Marvin Osborn and daughter-in-law Shirley (King) Lucas. She is survived by two children; Dr Mark Lucas (Patricia) and Susanne Lucas, six grandchildren; Jonathan Fabiano, Rebecca (Lucas) Potluri (Suresh), Dr Todd Lucas (Kelly), Dr Steven Lucas (Sara), Timothy Kerney (Melissa) and Natalie (York) Lovely (William); eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Visitation will be held at St. Thomas More Student Parish, 421 Monroe Street, Kalamazoo, on May 6, 2022 at 10:00 am, just prior to a funeral mass at 11:00 pm. Mass will be followed by a short gathering of friends and family and then burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 2003 Mt. Olivet Road, Kalamazoo. The family would like to thank Donna Dangler for years of assistance to Doris as well as the staff of The Vineyards Assisted Living Community for the kind care provided in fer final months.
