Diane M Scott

Age 73

Midland, MI, formerly of

Kalamazoo

Diane Marie (Wallace) Scott passed away peacefully on September 22nd, 2023, at Brittany Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Midland, Michigan.

Diane was born in Kalamazoo on November 10, 1949, to Harold and Beverly (Buenger) Wallace. Raised in the Oakwood neighborhood, Diane was a 1967 graduate of Loy Norrix High School where she excelled academically and served as president of the Pep Club and as a cheerleader.

After graduation, Diane enrolled and graduated from the Kalamazoo Licensed Practical Nursing Center and began her nursing career at Borgess Hospital. Diane was proud to be a nurse and was known as a hard and dedicated worker, always going out of her way to care for her patients.

Fate intervened in Diane's senior year of high school when -- in the fall of 1966 -- Diane met Paul Scott, who transferred to Loy Norrix when University High closed. The chemistry was immediate, and a lifelong bond was created. Diane and Paul were married on June 13, 1970, and they relocated to Mt. Pleasant where Paul completed his studies and Diane worked at the local hospital.

The couple moved to Detroit in 1971, where Diane began working in the Labor and Delivery Department at St. John Hospital. Diane "scrubbed in" on Cesarean deliveries and her services were in demand by all the doctors, who called her the "A" team.

In 1972, Diane gave birth to daughter Krista, followed by Taryn in 1975. The young family was now complete, and Diane shifted her energy to being the absolute best and most dedicated mother. She was involved in school activities and supported their endeavors with joy and passion.

Diane and Paul relocated back to Kalamazoo in the 1980s and owned and operated Scott's on Campus Restaurant for many years and made many dear friends. Over the years at the restaurant, Diane went out of her way to support and assist her many college age employees, even to the point of having several employees move into her home. She was highly respected and deeply loved by all. She also became a huge fan of Bronco Football, holding season tickets for 35 years and traveling to games in Florida, Texas, California, New York, Alabama, and many other locations.

Diane is survived by her husband Paul, daughters Krista Leverton (Jeff) of Dansville, Michigan, and Taryn Scott of Silverton, Oregon, as well as grandchildren Danica and Riley. She also is survived by brothers Jerry Wallace, Larry Wallace (Jean), sister Analinda Marlette (Todd Rees), stepfather Bob DeZoete and her special friend, Laura Howard. She was predeceased by her parents, her step mother Anne DeZoete, her sister-in-law Claudette Wallace and an infant sister, Carol Wallace.

The family sincerely thanks the staff of Brittany Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as Promedica Hospice Services for their exceptional and compassionate care during Diane's final days. Per Diane's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service or visitation. Arrangements are by Ware, Smith Woolever Funeral Directors, Midland, Michigan. Donations in Diane's memory can be directed to the

Alzheimer's Association.
