Formerly of Kalamazoo, MI

Diane Lee (Cote) VanDyke went to be with the Lord after a short illness on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 in Miami Beach, Florida. Diane was always upbeat, energetic, and happy; she was a wonderful person to know and love as a wife, mother, friend or neighbor. Born in Kalamazoo, MI, in 1943, she made a joyful life there with her husband Roger and their sons, Jeff and Bryan. Superbly organized, as an executive assistant she made her bosses look smarter and more capable. At home she juggled social events, vacation plans, and birthdays with creativity and flair. She treated Christmas like a once in a lifetime festival. Active in her church, strong in faith, she gave her time to others with no agenda except kindness. In later years, she and Roger relocated to Miami Beach, where they spent the last of their sixty years together. She made friends everywhere because she was genuine and curious. If you had a dog, she'd ask to pet it; if you had a garden, she'd stop to admire it. She read ravenously and passed the habit to her children and grandchildren. If there's a window in heaven where you can sit and listen to rainstorms, that's where she is now. She made the world a brighter place. She is survived by her husband, her two sons, two daughters-in-law (Erin Rericha and Raina Mehta), and four grandchildren (Yasmine, Xavier, Maddox and Zoe); as well as her older brother, Donald C. Cote. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023, beginning at 3:00 p.m., at North Park Reformed Church, 1316 Barney Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49004. A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Diane's name to Compassion International, the Humane Society, or Kalamazoo Christian Schools Foundation, c/o the funeral home.
