Dennis Kinsey Simpson, age 91, of Portage, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home, March 10, 2026. Dennis was born in Noblesville, Indiana on May 11, 1934, the son of Alice E. and Charles K. Simpson. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1953, he completed a Tool & Die and Model Maker Apprenticeship with Delco Remy General Motors Corp. R & D. In 1955, Dennis met Nancy Beth Gentry and married in 1957, starting a loving lifelong partnership. Dennis and Nancy had 3 children: Jon, Lee and Rex, and celebrated 68-plus years of marriage. Dennis was drafted, U.S. Army-Radar in Germany. Upon return, resumed engineering career at GM, earned pilot's license (sport/formation flying), Deputy of Madison County IN. Police Department, Warbird Maintenance at Kal-Aero, Director of Warbirds of America, President of Pershing Plastics, Mayfair Salon's, and Hobby-Sports.com, Plant Manager of Pemco Tool and Die, AMBUCS member, 2-way/short-wave radio, talented football and tennis player. In retirement, Dennis flew his experimental Midget Mustang and enjoyed volunteering for decades as Chairman of Warbird Security at E.A.A. He is survived by his wife Nancy; his sons: Jon (Pam VanEngen), Lee, and Rex Simpson (Heather Colhoun) and grandchildren; and his sister Diana (Jerry) Bradford; and nieces. Brother-in-law; Max (Julie) Gentry; and nephews. Sister-in-law Sue (deceased); niece and nephews.

Friends may gather with his family on Sunday, March 22nd, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009. Friends may also visit with the family from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Monday, March 23rd, at the funeral home, where his funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jim Dyke officiating. A committal service will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, with military honors.
