Denise Husted

Denise Husted, 70, of Mattawan, passed away Sunday, May 7th 2023.

Denise lived a full life. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and sister. Her biggest passion and purpose in life was helping other people. Denise was a leader in her community. She was a social worker for 40 years, often absorbing and helping parts of the community that were most underserved. She was an advocate for women & children, the LGBTQIA community, people living with mental illness, and senior citizens. Denise was a passionate supporter of the arts in her community, she had a quick wit, and vast sense of humor. She also loved the beauty of the natural world. She enjoyed bird watching, hunting for wild berries, fishing, watching the re-birth of the world in springtime, and the leaves changing color in autumn. Denise also enjoyed antiquing, canning fruits and vegetables (known far and wide for her jams and relishes). She was a woman about town, very social, her friendships were one of her greatest treasures. D-town, you will be missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 29th from 1-5pm at the Oshtemo Community Center-6407 Parkview Ave, Kalamazoo.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Van Buren Youth Camp Scholarship Fund.
