Delmar Gibbons

Delmar E. "Gene" Gibbons, age 84, of Kalamazoo, MI went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 18, 2016. He was born in Decatur, IL on August 13, 1932 to the late Delmar D. and Dorothy E. (Scott) Gibbons. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Gibbons; brother, David Gibbons and three grandsons, Robert, Lenny and Chris. On September 28, 1951 he married Wanda M. Snyder, who survives. Gene worked for 35 years at the Upjohn Company and after retirement he went to work for Bridge Organics in Vicksburg. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by his daughters, Barbara (John) Mohney, Debra (Dave) Farrow, Sharon Gibbins and Cathy (Daniel) Harley; many grandchildren; sisters, Karen Osadchuck and Mary Larrow and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Kalamazoo Free Methodist Church, 931 W. Maple St., Kalamazoo, MI 49008, followed by a time of celebration also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
