Debra McCarty

Age 75, passed away on June 9, 2026. She was born on September 12, 1950, in Beech Grove, Indiana, to the late Thomas A. and Dorothy Mae (Parks) Goodman.

On September 14, 1968, she married David Lee McCarty, who preceded her in death on November 27, 2019.

Debra spent many years working in the banking industry as a sales assistant. She was known for her kind heart and her love of animals, especially her dogs and cats, which brought her great joy throughout her life.

Debra enjoyed reading, camping, traveling, and shopping with friends. She especially loved spending time at the beach, with Myrtle Beach holding a special place in her heart. Whether enjoying a vacation, relaxing with a good book, or spending time with loved ones, Debra appreciated life's simple pleasures and the memories made along the way.

She is survived by her son, Raymond (Heather) McCarty; her sister, Sherry (Melvin) Boyer; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Besides her parents and husband, Debra was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery D. McCarty in 2025; and her brother, Ricky and Randy Goodman.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services 3926 South 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Private entombment will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park – South.
