Debra Fox

Debra Marie Fox, born Debra Marie Mitchell on June 23, 1953, to Edward and Bernice Mitchell in Benton Harbor, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2026, surrounded by the people she loved. She was 72 years old.

Debra had a forty-year career as a community nurse, serving in multiple roles across the region and touching countless lives along the way. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Kalamazoo for over thirty years, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She loved hosting, laughed generously, and played cards to win.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bernice Mitchell, and her sister, Terry Moore.

She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Edward M. Mitchell, Jr. (La Ron); her husband of over forty years, Deacon Freddie Fox; daughters Tisha Mitchell, Toná Flowers, and Dr. Whitney Weathers (Carlton); sons Antwon Fox (Annette), Elder Zacarrii Hamby (Kimberly), and Brock Smith; godsister Tracy Haire; special friends turned family Pastor Rev. Albert and Helen Adams; her sister-friend of over thirty years, Patricia Pulphus; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends who will miss her deeply.

A homegoing celebration will be held on May 29, 2026, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Committal will follow on May 30, 2026, at Graceland Cemetery in Bridgman, Michigan, under the care of Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor.
