Deborah (Debbie) Rose Campbell, 64, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend of Jackson, MI, peacefully and with grace ended her battle with cancer at U of M Hospital on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Born on March 14, 1962, in Kalamazoo, MI, to David and Marilyn Campbell. She was raised and spent most of her early life in Kalamazoo with her three brothers: Mike, Ken, and Bill. Debbie graduated high school in Vicksburg. Her adventurous spirit and curious nature were evident from a young age and included nature photography and her participation as an exchange student to Denmark in high school.
Debbie had a kind heart and was a good student, and she used those attributes to obtain her BSW in Social Work at Southwestern Illinois University. As a social worker, she helped many people through the YWCA, MadCAP, and Goodwill. She would often use personal resources to selflessly give her time and energy to folks who needed it most.
Debbie loved to garden, tending multiple plants inside and outside her home. She loved crafting gifts for family and friends, with painting, cross-stitching, and beading being among her favorites. Her innate curiosity led her to explore new artistic ventures, and over the past few years, she expanded her talents to rug making.
Debbie was an excellent cook and loved sweet treats of all types. She was playful, fun, and fun-loving, and the home she shared with Peggy became a magnet for friends and family and a refuge for many in need of non-judgmental companionship. Deb had a wonderful sense of humor, great sportsmanship, and couldn't pass up a bit of wordplay!
Debbie also loved to hike, bike, and camp with her wife and their dogs, exploring national parks and vibrant cities alike. She could be just as happy to relax with a dog, a book, and a bowl of ice cream, and loved spending time with friends and family.
Debbie is preceded in death by her grandmother, Rose Campbell; her parents, David and Marilyn Campbell; her daughter, Cassandra; and many devoted dogs.
Her memory will be cherished by her wife, Peggy Trumble; her daughter and son-in-law, Veronica and Jacob Woodring; and her brothers, Mike (Teresa) Moreno, Ken (Mona) Campbell, and Bill (Susan) Campbell, as well as their current adoring dogs.
