Darrell Pifer

Darrell P. Pifer, age 66 of Portage, passed peacefully surrounded by his family at home following a lengthy illness on August 8, 2026. He was born on June 10, 1960, in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Billie (Bill) and Susan (Finch) Pifer. Darrell was a 1978 graduate of Portage Northern High School and attended KVCC and Western Michigan University. Darrell spent the majority of his working career as the general manager at Simmons Ford in Vicksburg, MI. On September 18, 1995, he married Annie Baic, and they were blessed with two remarkable daughters, their pride and joy. Darrell enjoyed fishing, baseball, and playing backyard games with his family. He even invented many games to play. He was a natural sportsman, and could play any and every sport (righty or lefty). He made friends quickly and people were drawn to his generosity. Darrell will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Annie Pifer; his daughters: Jennifer (Sean) Smith and Kat (Joey) Lioy; his mother: Susan Pifer; his siblings: Brenda (Pat) Quinn, Tammy (Vic) Heckman, Amy Pifer, and Holly (Pete) Montalvo; many nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Billie Pifer. A private memorial service has taken place. In memory of Darrell, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
