Danny First Sr.

First, Danny D. Sr. Kalamazoo Peacefully passed away Friday afternoon, July 15, 2022. He was born February 2, 1950 in Kalamazoo the son of Bennie and Donna (Daily) First. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy where he served as an armed currier for presidential service duty. He worked as a foreman in the assembly department at Stryker Corp and later as a team leader at Sam's Club. He also worked security for several different agencies in the area. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, NRA, and the Kalamazoo Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, gardening, trail hiking, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He is survived by his children, Stacy (Ward) Downer, Scott (Stacey) First, Danny (Jennifer) First; 8 grandchildren, Ryan Downer, Harley, Brendon, Kendal, Drew, Dekin, Landon, and Kolby First; great-grandson, Reagan Neuerburg; step-brother, Kevin Kyle; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, James Kyle; and infant grandson, Kyle First. Friends may meet the family from 11:00-12:00pm Thursday, July 28 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 where a memorial service will follow at 12:00pm. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 2:00pm with military honors. Memorials may be directed to Talons Out Honor Flight or the Disabled American Veterans.
