Daniel Sootsman

Sootsman, Daniel W. Plainwell Daniel William Sootsman, age 65, went home to his Lord on July 10, 2022. Dan was born in Kalamazoo, MI on July 15, 1956, to William Sootsman, Jr. and Ruth (Allen) Hoag. He graduated in 1974 from Wayland High School and attended Western Michigan University. Dan worked in several industries during his lifetime, including food services, mining equipment and inventory control. He retired in 2021 from Thermo Fisher Scientific after 21 years of service. Dan loved sports, especially baseball and hockey, which he played as a youth; and softball, playing in adult leagues for many decades. He was also an avid fisherman, frequenting local lakes and remote Canadian fishing spots. Dan loved his family, who will miss him greatly. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda. Surviving is his dear companion, Barb Williams; brothers, Keith (Casey) Sootsman of Kalamazoo and Richard (Terri) Chambers of Portage; a sister, Terri (Jack) Brogan of Kalamazoo; several uncles, aunts and cousins; eight nieces and nephews; a grandniece and a grandnephew.
