Daniel Munoz Parra, 83, of Climax, Michigan passed away in his home, surrounded by his family and friends on May 17, 2026.

Born and raised in El Paso, Texas,on January 1, 1943, Daniel was the second of three children born to Ernesto and Olga (Martinez) Munoz-Parra Sr.

Daniel joined The United States Marine Corp in 1964 where he earned the rank of Sergeant. He was in charge of six 8 inch Howitzer canons. If you knew Dan, you know how proud he was to be a U.S. Marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine.

Daniel relocated to Battle Creek, Michigan in the early 1970's and then to his final residence in Climax, Michigan in 1978 where he remained until his passing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto Munoz-Parra Sr & Olga (Martinez) Munoz-Parra, his brother, Ernesto Munoz-Parra, Jr., and his sister, Lilia (Munoz-Parra) Smith. He is also preceded in death by his long time companion, Oso, his beloved and faithful dog. If you asked Dan, Oso was his only and favorite son.

He is survived by his two daughters, Denise Munoz Pyle (Scott), and Deborah Munoz-Parra. Five grandchildren, Dillon S. Thompson (Samantha), Ashley M. Pyle, Justin D. Pyle, Nicholas J. Sacchetti, and Gabriel A. Sacchetti. Finally, five great grandchildren, Alexandria I. Thompson, Henry W. Thompson, and in marriage, Elliott & Charlie Judd, with baby Claire's impending birth.

He is further survived by several nieces and nephews along with his three best friends forever Sam, Martha, and Jan, whom he enjoyed many laughs and good times throughout his lifetime.

Dates and times for his interment in the Prairie Home Cemetery located in the Village of Climax, Michigan and a celebration of life following interment at the American Legion also in Climax, will be provided at a later date.
