Obituary
Daniel Curry, age 84 of Kalamazoo, passed away on May 4, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 2, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Fillmore and Geraldine (Chevrier Grant) Curry. Dan was a graduate of Redford High School in Detroit. He was a proud graduate of Michigan State University, receiving his bachelor's degree in Social Science. In the fall of 1963, Dan met Wilma "Wig" Craft while she was working at St. Lawrence Hospital. The couple were married on February 1, 1964. They lived in several Michigan communities including Lansing, East Lansing, Mason, Adrian, Almena, Kalamazoo and Paw Paw over their 58 years of marriage. Dan was a mediator for the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service for 45 years before retiring in 2010. Dan enjoyed his time away from work with his family. They had a cottage on Lake Huron in Oscoda, Michigan for many years. Both while working and in his private life, Dan truly enjoyed engaging with colleagues, friends and family, often including joking and "teasing" to form a special connection with each person. Dan and Wig were true Spartan fans, supporting MSU throughout their lives. As season ticket holders, tailgating and football Saturdays were a fall tradition for almost 60 years. He was supportive of his children and grandchildren, attending all their sporting and stage events over the years. He loved seeing them perform and was always proud to share stories of their adventures. For several years, Dan had coached little league baseball in Paw Paw, where his sons grew up. Surviving are his sons: Patrick (Akiko) Curry and Jeff (Sarah) Curry; his grandchildren: Ryan and Nathan; Eliana, Jaxon, and Alexia; his brother Richard (Sue) Curry; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Wig. Friends may visit with his family on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 12:30 PM-2:30 PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM prior to the gathering.
