Daisy "Marie" McKain

Passed away Saturday afternoon February 22, 2020 at home in Gobles, MI. Marie was born on September 20, 1927 to the late Arthur Shewmake and Ada Marie Robbins in Detroit, MI. She was united in marriage to Oscar C. McKain on May 22, 1948. Marie was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Gobles. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Marie enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidery and other crafts. She also enjoyed traveling, picnics and doing other spur-of-the-moment activities with her family. Preceding Marie in death were her husband, Oscar C. McKain; brothers, Lester Shewmake and Clayton Day; and son-in-law Ervin "Slugger" Lewis. Surviving her are three daughters; Betty McKain of Kalamazoo; Bonny (Murray) Smith of Plano, TX; Kay Lewis of Gobles; a grandson, Anthony A. Lewis; a great-grandson, Anthony A. Lewis, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. Also Surviving are her sisters and brother, Alma Jones, Arlene (Don) Daley, Shirley (Raymond) Moore, Deborah (John) Baldwin and George Day. The family would also like to recognize Bev and Bruce Storey, Laurie and Ernie McCoy, Josh and Heather Raymond, Jeanette Livock, Sandy Kennison, Evelyn and Brad Wyman and Peg Wilsea for being great friends and neighbors of Marie's. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service for Marie will be held at a later date. Marie has asked that people buy a friend a flower, fill out an organ donor card or do a good deed in her memory. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
