Deaton, Daisy T. Kalamazoo Daisy went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2014. She was born September 3, 1919 in Kendall, MI the daughter of James S. and Minnie Margaret (Metz) Smith. Daisy attended Gobles High School, but graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in June of 1937. She has been a Kalamazoo resident since 1935. She started working at Armintrouts Grocery Store while still in High School, also worked at the Kalamazoo Creamery in the office then later worked for the Harding grocery store. Daisy loved to read, dance and do crocheting, travel and have fun. She has been an active member of the Daughter of the Nile Temple #67 of Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids for many years. She was an active member in the Cooper Congregational Church for several years. On Oct. 27, 1972 she was united in marriage to Bernard A. Deaton, the love of her life who survives. She is also survived by two sons, Larry J. (Gail) Smith and Marvin Ray Smith of Ft. Myers, FL; one stepdaughter, Dolores (Robert) Williams of Portage; three stepsons, Russell (Becky) Deaton of Plainwell, Bernard J. (Deb) Deaton, Tim (Peggy) Deaton from Kalamazoo, a brother and sister-in-law, John and Annette Smith, of Riverview, FL; a sister, Catherine French of Mattawan, 13 grandchildren including Russ and (Erin) Deaton of Ypsilanti, 17 great grandchildren, step sister; Shirley Hill and step brother; Donald Owens all of Kalamazoo. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Cooper Congregational Church.
