Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Cynthia J. Gordon (Bach) was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on April 29th, 2026.
Cynthia was born on October 6th, 1950, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Howard E. and Martha J. (Bach) Walsh. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, faith, and deep devotion to her family and friends. Cynthia had a beautiful way of making people feel loved, welcomed, and important, and the memories she created with those around her will be treasured forever.
Surviving relatives are her son Daniel Graham; daughter Shawna (Jason) Porter; daughter Amanda Graham; granddaughter Vayda Porter; grandson Gavin Porter; sister Yvonne (Gary) Courtney; along with several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness and warmth.
Greeting her in Heaven were her mother Martha, father Howard, stepfather Joe, brother Paul, and the many cherished dogs she loved throughout her life - surely running to greet her the moment she arrived at Heaven's gates.
Cynthia was a devoted mother who always wanted to protect her children and make sure they were cared for. No matter how difficult life became, she always found a way to provide for them, putting her family before herself time and time again. Her love was unconditional, steadfast, and present in every sacrifice she made throughout her life.
She deeply cherished the traditions and memories she created with her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite family traditions was baking and decorating Christmas cookies together, filling the home with warmth, laughter, and love during the holidays. She especially treasured baking with her granddaughter Vayda, creating sweet memories side by side in the kitchen that will forever be held close to the heart.
Cynthia loved life's simple joys and treasured every season of life. She had a deep love for all animals, especially dogs, and her gentle heart extended to every creature she encountered. She found peace in watching birds gather at her bird feeder, especially hummingbirds, and she loved seeing the spring flowers bloom each year as a reminder of beauty, renewal, and God's creation.
She had a joyful and spirited personality that could light up a room. Cynthia loved playing bingo, singing karaoke, and sitting around the table playing canasta with her sister Yvonne and dear friends, enjoying laughter and good company. She was a devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers and faithfully watched her favorite television shows including American Idol, Days of Our Lives (which she never missed an episode since the premiere),and especially Big Brother - a show nobody dared interrupt her during.
One of Cynthia's greatest joys in life was hearing her son sing, you could often hear his voice throughout her home as she listened to his recordings often. It brought her endless pride and happiness, and those moments became memories she carried close to her heart. She also treasured the special moments she shared with each of her children and grandchildren. She loved her Pizza Hut lunch and movie dates with Mandy, moments filled with laughter, conversation, and love, and was so proud of her for all her achievements in school. She was incredibly proud of Shawna and cherished their shopping dates together and phone calls, always sharing in the excitement and accomplishment of Shawna becoming an author. Cynthia also loved spending time cheering on her grandson at baseball games and watching her granddaughter ride horses - moments that brought her so much joy and pride as a grandmother.
Even during the final chapter of her life, when her body had grown weak, Cynthia continued to find joy in the moments spent with the people she loved most. She cherished laying in bed watching baseball with her grandson Gavin, quietly soaking in those precious moments together that meant so much to her.
Cynthia also shared many cherished memories through her bowling league, Mom's Pinquins, where she bowled alongside generations of family including her grandma, mother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt. Those nights were filled with laughter, tradition, and togetherness - things Cynthia valued deeply.
She had a creative spirit and loved cake decorating, home interiors and ceramics, always finding ways to make a house feel warm, beautiful, and welcoming. Her home reflected the same comfort and love she gave so freely to others.
Above all, Cynthia loved Jesus deeply. Her faith carried her through every season of life and gave her strength, comfort, and peace. She especially loved reading the Book of Psalms and listening to hymns that brought her closer to the Lord she trusted so faithfully. Her love for God was reflected in the compassion, grace, and love she showed to everyone around her.
Above all else, Cynthia loved her family with her whole heart. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose strength, humor, compassion, and unwavering love will continue to guide those she leaves behind. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we take comfort knowing she is at peace in the presence of Jesus, reunited with loved ones gone before her.
Her love will remain woven into the lives of her family forever - in every spring flower, every hummingbird sighting, every Tigers game, and every memory shared around the table.
She will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and forever remembered.
