"Heaven has gained another Angel" Cornelia "Casey" Van Bruggen, age 94, went home to be with her Lord on July 20, 2019. Casey was born November 20, 1924 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Cornelius and Wilhelmina (Bakker) Van Bruggen. She was a lifelong resident who worked as a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery for over 34 years at Borgess Medical Center and later volunteered there for over 20 years. Casey attended Hope College and graduated from Borgess School of Nursing; later she received her bachelor's degree from WMU. She was a longtime active member of Calvary Bible Church, where she loved to sing in the church choir. She enjoyed traveling and was a true cat lover, specializing in rescuing many cats. Casey loved spending special times with her family and was most proud of all she and her nieces and nephews have been through together. Surviving are fourteen nieces and nephews and all their families. Casey was preceded in death by her parents and by all her siblings Anna Ver Hage, Lou Van Bruggen, Johnnie Miller, Red Van Bruggen, Ruth Shoemaker and Wilhelmina Cornelia Van Bruggen. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 26th at Calvary Bible Church (855 South Drake Rd.) The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday, July 25th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street and at the church on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00am.
