Clyde Flora

Clyde Allen Flora of Portage, MI passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the age of 84. He was born January 13, 1932 in Kalamazoo to the late Jack and Dorothy (Galbreath) Flora. Clyde was united in marriage to Bonnie Jean Trader on March 14, 1951 for a loving 65 years together. Clyde served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, from October of 1950 until honorably discharged in October of 1953. Clyde was a longtime member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Clyde was active in his church and was an avid woodworking enthusiast. He served on the Portage Zoning Board of Appeals and on the Leadership Board of ISAAC. He also enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren. Clyde is survived by his wife, Bonnie Flora; children, Brenda (Gary) Swynenberg, Michael (Karla) Flora and Wendy Flora; 2 grandchildren, Nicole (John) LeLay and Sean (Molly) Flora; 2 great grandchildren, Alexandria and Elizabeth; siblings, James (Norma) Flora and Barbara Keech; and several nieces and nephews. Clyde was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Flora. The family will greet friends on Thursday, June 2nd from 4-7pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave. Friends will also be greeted at Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 2208 Winchell Ave., on Friday, June 3rd from 12:30 1:30, right before the service, which will begin at 1:30pm. Rev. Ruth Moerdyk will officiate. Entombment will be at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Clyde's name may be directed to ISAAC, to the church, or to the Borgess Heart Center.
