Obituary
Christopher Dziepak passed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from his home in Mattawan, Michigan at the age of 70. He was a vibrant man, always knowing what he wanted and what he believed and freely expressing that. He was a great story-teller and a spontaneous adventurer, always ready to explore a new route when traveling or stop to look at an interesting building or curious object. He was also a very giving man who paid attention to what his friends and family liked and enjoyed giving them things that fit within their interests. He loved Lake Michigan and was ready at a moment's notice to go and watch a sunset or collect rocks along its shores. His greatest passion was his love for God and he would become emotional as he shared his story of how God healed him from pancreatic cancer 22 years ago.
Chris was born in Detroit, grew up in Oak Park, Michigan and graduated from Shrine High School in 1973. He attended Western Michigan University and graduated with his master degree in finance. He spent his employment years in manufacturing sales at several companies including Kalamazoo Reel, Aero-Motive, Ronningen-Petter Manufacturing, and Koolant Koolers. In his retirement years, Chris loved to scout for used books, selling them on-line and volunteered at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission Rescued Treasures Thrift Store. He also was a tax preparer for approximately 10 years. He attended Reformed Baptist Church in Kalamazoo.
He leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Kathy, as well as his son Matt, daughter Katie, and son-in-law Nic. Siblings include Shelley (John Paul), David (Ellen), Claudia (Robert), Peter, Paul, Damien, and Sarah as well as nephews and nieces. Bill and Linda are his brother-in-law and sister-in-law. He also leaves behind Robert and Rose, dear friends who were like a brother and sister to him. A verse from the Bible that was meaningful to him is Ephesians 2: 8 - 9, which says "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and it is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so no one can boast."
According to his wishes, there will be no memorial service. Memorial contributions can be sent to Heritage Christian Academy, 6312 Quail Run Dr., Kalamazoo 49009, where both of his children graduated.
