Heerlyn, Cheryl Kay Of Portage, MI Cheryl (Cherie) Kay Heerlyn (Izenbaard) left this world on April 19, 2021 where her last word here and her first word in heaven was "Jesus." Cherie loved Jesus, and we can only imagine what a beautiful welcome she received into heaven. Cherie was 71 when she passed away from this world. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was deeply loved by her family. At family gatherings, she was always helping prepare food or involved in cleaning up. She looked for ways to serve others and really enjoyed helping wherever she could. She was so grateful God healed her of breast cancer 16 years ago so she could meet and spend time with all of her grandchildren. She loved reading them books and encouraging creativity. She also loved sewing, making yummy desserts, her weekly Bible study, and playing the organ at Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church. Cherie was born on June 10, 1949 in Kalamazoo, MI. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Irene Izenbaard and her first grandchild Kaitlyn Heerlyn. She is survived by her husband, Bob Heerlyn, children, Derek (Pam) Heerlyn, Todd (Jillian) Heerlyn, Angela (Steven) Lam, Joanna (Scott) Alexander, grandchildren from oldest to youngest: Meegan Heerlyn, Ben Heerlyn, Alliyah Heerlyn, RaeLeigh Lam, Brighton Lam, Josh Heerlyn, Lincoln Lam, Lilyah Alexander, Noah Heerlyn, Briella Lam, EmiLeigh Alexander, Sofia Heerlyn, Ezra Lam, Daniel Alexander, two brothers, Tom (Kathy) Izenbaard, John (Sue) Izenbaard and 2 nieces, 3 nephews, and a grandniece and grandnephew. An outdoor memorial service is being planned for May 7, 2021 (the 50th wedding anniversary of Bob and Cherie). A private burial will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Memorial Contributions can be sent to Compassion International.
