Obituary
Cherie Dye, age 54, of Battle Creek, went home to be with her LORD and Savior Jesus Christ after a short battle with cancer on February 2, 2012. Cherie was born January 24, 1958 in Butler, PA, the daughter of Thompson and Pauline (Jordan) Callen. She married Lyle Dye on June 30, 1984 in Hammond, IN and he survives. Cherie was the first lady of Battle Creek Baptist Temple and the church pianist. She was a Sunday School teacher and led the ladies meetings called Home Builders at her church. Cherie was a teacher and also home schooled all of her children. She was honored as a "Who's Who in America" her senior year of college in 1981. Cherie was a wonderful wife and mother who will be terribly missed by not only her family, but by all who knew her. Besides her husband Lyle, Cherie is survived by her daughters: Amy (Nathaneal) Petersen, Amber Dye, Elizabeth Dye, and Hannah Dye; her son: Mark Dye; 2 grandchildren: Jacob and Elena Petersen all of Battle Creek; her mother: Pauline Callen of White Lake; her brother: Jim (Janet) Callen of St. Cloud, FL; and 2 sisters: Carol Ann Stewart, and Jeanne Callen both of White Lake. Her father Thompson Callen preceded her in death. Visitation for Cherie will be on Sunday from 2-4 PM at the Royal Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Visitation will also be on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 10:00 AM until the time of her funeral service at 1:00 PM at the Battle Creek Baptist Temple, Battle Creek with Pastor Steve Finn officiating. Burial will be in Battle Creek Memorial Park, Battle Creek. Memorials in Cherie's name may be directed to Battle Creek Baptist Temple.
