Steve Jackson, age 75, of Newburgh, IN left to be with his Lord on April 26, 2020. He was born May 7, 1944 in Bedford, IN and is the son of the late Charles Edwin Jackson and Geneva (Fleming) Jackson. Steve graduated from high school in Atlanta, GA and attended Georgia Tech. Steve worked as a musician for many years and was the drummer for several acts in the Atlanta area – Southwinds, Sandy East V, The Rhodes Brothers and Nelson Rogers. He was a member of the Atlanta Federation of Musicians. In Michigan, Steve worked for family in the management of the Vicksburg Bowling Alley. In the mid 80's, Steve and a partner went into the pest control business. Steve retired from Terminix, Inc. Steve was an avid armchair sports fan. He especially enjoyed rooting for Indiana University football and basketball, the Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts, and loved Nascar racing, especially driver Jeff Gordon. He also enjoyed film photography, detailing his automobiles, billiards and painting models. He was a great cook and enjoyed the process of putting together a good meal. In his retirement home in Newburgh, IN Steve enjoyed golfing and his membership in Sons of the American Legion at the Newburgh Kapperman Post 44. Steve was a loving stepfather and grandfather to 4 grandchildren. He was a dedicated son to his Mother and cared for her during her extended illness with Alzheimer's disease. Steve again provided special care to his wife, Marjorie Ann Jackson who also suffered from Alzheimer's disease and died exactly seven months before him. Steve was also preceded in death by infant grandson Gabriel J. Wood and a few cousins. Steve and Marjorie married in 1991 and enjoyed 28 years together. Steve is survived by his stepdaughter, Bonnie (Alan) Wood; 4 grandchildren, Christian, Paris, Piper and Presley Wood; Aunt, Charlotte Weathers and several cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Steve's life. Memorials may be directed to the Newburgh American Legion Kapperman Post 44.
