Dykstra Sr. , Charles A. 11/28/1932 - 8/17/2022 Kalamazoo Charles Anthony Dykstra, Sr. went home to his Savior peacefully on August 17, 2022, at the age of 89. He was born to Anthony M. Dykstra and Martha (Norman) on November 28, 1932 and was sadly orphaned at the age of 5 from an auto accident. He went on to live with his Uncle David and Aunt Pearl Dykstra and then with his Uncle Rev. John M. and Anne Dykstra. After graduating from Calvin College he met his wife and soulmate, June (Clausing) Dykstra who passed away on December 7, 2020. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Surviving are their three sons, Daryl (Sue), Chuck Jr. (Marcia), and Daniel (Kim); eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was employed by State Farm Insurance serving four different communities and completing his employment in Kalamazoo as Claims Superintendent. Chuck, with June, was an active member of Third Christian Reformed Church serving on Council, in choir, and numerous ministry activities. Chuck's life was inextricably linked to June. Intertwined with both of them was their lifelong commitment for their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, their family, their church, and their mutual love for the Bible and music. These were evident in their lives on a daily basis. Great hymns of faith sustained Chuck through his last years of memory loss. Hearing favorite passages of scripture enlivened his spirit and welled up from within him as his own songs of joy. Chuck was known as a great singer, pianist, conversationalist, loving husband and father with a subtle sense of humor and a ready smile. He was a pillar of consistency, patience and perseverance, and was a testament to that throughout his life. He was God-focused through the loss of his parents, his education, military service, employment, and raising their family with June. Chuck's life was truly blessed and the legacy of love, faith and devotion to Jesus has been passed on to his family and countless others in his sphere of influence. "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord!" (Mt 25) A Memorial service to honor Chuck & June's lives will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Third Christian Reformed Church, 2400 Winchell Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvin University, Calvin Theological Seminary, The Luke Society, Christian Reformed World Renew, c/o the funeral home. Family and friends may share a condolence message online at www.joldersma-klein.com.
