Weir, Cathleen "Cathie" 5/18/1950 - 12/21/2022 Kalamazoo Cathleen "Cathie" Weir, Higgins, 72, Kalamazoo, MI, passed away Wednesday, December 21st 2022. After two unexpected surgeries, her fragile lungs and kidneys could not take the stress. Cathie was a double-lung transplant recipient, just shy of 15 years ago. Cathie's first love was the theatre, especially the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre. She was a writer and published a book, "I'll See You Later" which is about her experience with her transplant. Cathie is survived by her husband, Richard Weir. Her daughter, Susan Weir and granddaughter, Hannah Rafferty. Sister, Rosemary Burke and Brother, Lawrence Higgins. Celebration of life date will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the "Gift of Life Foundation". She donated her body to science to the United Tissue Network.
