Argoudelis, Cassie 8/30/1926 - 1/4/2021 Kalamazoo It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Cassie Argoudelis, age 94, the beloved wife of the late Alexander Argoudelis. Cassie was born in Kavala, Greece, August 30, 1926, the eldest of three children, (Kyriakos, deceased, and Themistocles) to Leonidas and Vassiliki Hatzopoulou. She emigrated to the United States in 1956 to pursue and obtain a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Illinois. There, she met Alex, and they married in 1958. Upon graduation from the University of Illinois, Cassie and Alex moved to Kalamazoo for what would be Alex's lifetime employment with the Upjohn Company. Cassie enjoyed homemaking and gardening. She was happy to share plants with family members that still thrive today. She was a very talented seamstress, and enjoyed making favorite Greek foods for the family. She thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of a few informal groups that met regularly like the Ping Pong group, Upjohn Ladies Lunch, and Sunday Brunch group. Cassie was a devoted supporter of the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts and the Kalamazoo Symphony. After Alex's death in 1988, she became an intrepid solo traveler, participating in over 100 senior educational travel programs all over the world. She eagerly looked forward to her yearly summers in Greece where she reconnected with her brothers, cousins and childhood friends. Cassie leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters, Renee Turissini (Jim) and Christine Andres (Doug), and grandchildren Alex Turissini and Greg Turissini, and Dr. Kristin Andres (Andrew Johnston), and Ariana Andres. Due to the current Coronavirus circumstances, a family memorial is planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be donated in Cassie's memory to The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, or the Kalamazoo Symphony. Renee and Christine would like to thank all of Cassie's Kalamazoo area friends, neighbors, and medical providers, who were such a vibrant and supportive part of Cassie's life. We are eternally grateful.
