Carolyn Kay (Barker) Kuehn, 85, of Portage, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025. Born on May 14, 1939, in Galesburg, Michigan to parents Ruby (Green) and Loyal Barker. Carolyn had three siblings: Mary Jeane, Kathryn, and Bruce. A graduate of Galesburg High School class of 1957, Carolyn was actively involved in student government and served as her class secretary. Shortly after high school, while working at the local car hop, Carolyn met her true love, Kenneth Kuehn, and they were later married December 12, 1958, in Scotts, Michigan.
Carolyn and Kenneth raised two children, Paula and Patricia. They were a family that loved to travel and spent many summers staying lakeside in a cozy cottage. Once empty nesters, Carolyn and Kenneth continued their travels and enjoyed many getaways to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Carolyn worked at First National Bank for over two decades and was known to have a fancy cocktail after a hard day's work. Carolyn and Kenneth built their dream home on Tub Lake in Vicksburg, Michigan where they enjoyed many sunsets and pontoon rides together with family.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Kuehn; sisters Mary Jeane Mezo and Kathryn Myers; brother Bruce Barker; parents Ruby and Loyal Barker; sister-in-law Iris Estes; and son-in-law Donald Mitchell.
Carolyn is survived by her children Paula Kuehn-Mitchell (Kevin Nichols) and Patricia Noble; grandchildren Cory (Lindsay) Noble, Kyle Noble, and Elizabeth (Joseph) Romeo; great-grandchildren Evan, Heidi, Ian, Hendricks, Jasmine, and Vaughan; brother-in-law Paul (Nancy) Kuehn; friend Judy Sherwood; and faithful cat companion Punkin.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Portage Central Cemetery, 7719 S Westnedge Ave, Portage, MI 49002, where Carolyn will be laid to rest. Luncheon to follow at Main St. Pub, 7509 S Westnedge Ave, Portage, MI 49002.
