Dial, Carolyn L. Portage, Michigan Carolyn Louise Dial (Sims), age 80, passed away on July 24, 2021 surrounded by her family at Kairos Dwelling. Carolyn was born to the late Hugh and Emily Sims on May 22, 1941. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, where she met Phillip Dial who became her husband and "stud" in February of 1965 and preceded her in death on December 1, 2020. Carolyn will be especially missed by her family and all who knew her. She was a woman with so much spunk in such a small body, she was always there for anyone in need and gave her family the best unconditional love and memories. She will be remembered for her love of shopping, finding deals and her QVC orders or online purchases that she would forget she ordered. She had the best dance moves and enjoyed having a glass of wine with maraschino cherries. Carolyn was the best hostess, always asking if you were hungry and making sure you were well fed or served a glass of wine. Carolyn had a spunk that will be missed, she loved her cuss words and learning things from her grandkids. She was her family's best and shortest cheerleader and always supported and encouraged them. If you were tall like Carolyn's grandsons, you might have had to get on your knees to hug her. She enjoyed the many drawings her grandkids were giving to her during her stay at Kairos, and the sunshine drawing by her grandson, Zachary. She had a sweet tooth for lemon meringue pie, black licorice, and York peppermint patties. She had astounding laundry skills and was the world's best stain remover. Most importantly she treated everyone like family. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Sims; and husband, Phillip Dial. She is survived by her daughter, Jodi (Thomas) Hageman; son, Michael Dial; grandchildren: Leeann (Zach) Bowden, Heather Hageman, Nicolas and Zachary Dial. She is also survived by her brother, Hugh Sims Jr, and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and interment will be at Vicksburg Cemetery at a later time. Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Carolyn to the Kairos Dwelling Home where she had received exceptional hospice care, the SPCA or the National Kidney Foundation.
