Caroline is survived by her kind and loving second husband of eight years, Herbert VanHassel (for whom she felt twice blessed); her four children with families, David (Loril) Garrett with two grandchildren, Branden and Emily Garrett, Paul (Jeanne) Garrett with two grandchildren, Phillip and Jennifer Garrett, Elizabeth (Nate) Evans with three grandchildren, Joshua, Grace, and Daniel Evans, Michael (Carolyn) Garrett with two grandchildren, Jack and Francisco Garrett; her three step children, Diana (Luke) Bourne, Mary Hollis and John (Patty) VanHassel along with five step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Caroline is also survived by one brother, Rev. Eric (Jeanne) Coulon and three nephews, Jonathan (Michelle) Coulon, Andrew (Jessica) Coulon and Philip Coulon. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 7th at 11 a.m. at Calvary Church on East Beltline in Grand Rapids with family member Rev. Dr. Art Gay of Chicago officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6th and at 10 a.m. at Calvary Church preceding the funeral.
