Obituary
Age 78, of Portage, passed away on August 5, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family. Carol was born in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of the late Leo and Ruth (Karsies) Yonkers. She had a heart for service, and the joy of the Lord was her strength.
Carol was a multi-talented woman who graduated from Calvin College and worked as a lab technician for Bronson, Borgess, and St. Mary's Hospital. While raising her children, she served as the Vice President of Accounting for her family's business, Bos Construction, and quickly rose to the Director level with Mary Kay Cosmetics.
When her children were grown, Ed and Carol started and ran Worldwide Lab Improvement for more than thirty years, also serving as full-time missionaries. She had a passion for music and was an accomplished pianist and organist. She began piano lessons at 4 yrs old and chose to use her God-given skills throughout her life. As early as high school, she was hired to be the main organist at a church and continued in music leadership, including 11 years as the Music Director at Third Reformed Church (Centerpoint). Carol was most recently a member of Calvary Bible Church, where she will be deeply missed.
Carol loved her family and was especially proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived.
On June 6, 1967, she married the love of her life, Edwin "Ed" Bos, who survives. She is also survived by two sons: Steve (Pam) Bos and their children-Andrew (Emily) Bos, Emily (Will) Hollis, Zach (Melissa) Bos, Hannah (Matt) Baker, Rachel (Jack) Rex, Kate Bos, Jeremiah Bos, Isaac (Kaitlyn) Bos, Josiah Bos, Nathan Bos, Levi Bos, and Abigail Bos; and Jeff (Megan) Bos and their children-Jack Bos, Leah Bos, Luke Bos, Eli Bos, Tyler Bos, and Noah Bos.
Also surviving are six great-grandchildren: Micah, Adalynn, Ellie, Daniel, Mikayla, and Olivia; her brother, Jack (Deb) Yonkers; brother-in-law, Dan (Esther) Bos; and brother-in-law, Tom Chicklon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Ruth Yonkers, and her sister, MaryJo Chicklon.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49009, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at the church on Thursday, August 14, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service.
