Obituary
Carol Ann (Rauh) Truhn passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the age of 93. She was born in Benton Harbor, MI on May 18, 1930 to the late William H. and Olga (Steinke) Rauh. Carol was baptized Lutheran at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor and confirmed 13 years later in the same congregation. She attended St. Matthew's Lutheran School through 8th grade and then went on to graduate from Benton Harbor High School. Carol married the love of her life, Benton "Ben" Truhn in October of 1953 in Benton Harbor at the same church she grew up in. She began married life building a home for them as Ben pursued his career with the Michigan State Police. Carol's focus was her strong faith and instilling this in her 3 children. She was an amazing seamstress, creating one-of-a-kind outfits, but she especially enjoyed sewing draperies and home décor.
Carol is survived by her children, Cynthia Sanfilippo, Susan Smoker, and Scott (Leigh) Truhn; five grandchildren, Jennifer Warble, Sara Ann (David) McGruder, Andrew Warble, Darby (Chase) Plank, and Hanley (Andre) Newsted; 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; brother, William (Nona) Rauh; sisters, Anita M. Rauh, and Elaine (Robert) Miller; and sister-in-law, Mary Alice (James) Sumner.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, April 29, 2024 at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 7211 Oakland Drive Portage, MI 49024 with visitation beginning at 10:00 am and a service to follow at 11:00 am. Inurnment will take place at Portage South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Lutheran School or Centrica Care Navigators, in memory of Carol.
