Tufts, III, Carl 1/12/2021 Portage Carl "Chad" Reed Tufts, III, 89 of Portage passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at his home in the care of his family. At this time the family will be remember him privately and will be announcing a gathering and time of remembrance in the future. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com Chad was born November 21, 1931 in Dearborn and served in the United States Navy. He attended Purdue University and later completed both a Masters and Doctorate degree requirements from Kent State University, but he never submitted his dissertation. He like to joke that instead of a PHD, he had an ABD - "all but dissertation."He was a Geographical Engineer by trade and a sales and marketing manager in the magnetic metal field. Chad was an accomplished photographer and traveled the world for National Geographic. He made many trips to Europe, the Galapagos Islands, Antarctica and China. Chad was an extremely active, lifelong member of the Rotary Club. He embodied the purpose of every Rotarian "where people unite and take action to create lasting change - across the globe, in our communities, and in the ourselves." Chad is survived by his loving companion and best friend, Trudy Blied and preceded in death by his son, Carl Jr., and his brother, Vaugh Tufts.
