Brian Olson

Brian passed into eternal life on November 3rd 2025 in Cleveland, Ohio with his family by his side. Born on January 27th 1956 in Litchfield, Minnesota, he devoted his life to the field of education, obtaining a Master's Degree in English from Western Michigan University and spent over four decades in the employ of Kalamazoo Valley Community College, initially as an employee of KVCC's Writing Center and later on as a full-time English instructor. Outside of work, he was an avid reader and could often be found spending weekends finding new books to read at both the Kalamazoo and Portage Public Libraries. Brian also enjoyed listening to music, working on crossword puzzles, going for walks in the woods and at Lake Michigan, finding new restaurants to try, spending time with his family and watching sports.

He was preceded in death by his father David and his mother Marlys (Nelson) and is survived by his wife Sandra Harger, his sons Stephen Harger and Elijah Olson, and his daughter Megan (Joshua) Carvey and his grandsons Jonah and Logan Carvey, as well as his sister Brenda Swanson and brothers Bruce Olson and Bradley Olson.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on November 14th at St. Catherine's of Siena in Portage, MI, with an hour of visitation prior to the service.
