Bonnie J. Knapp, age 74 of Galesburg, died at home under hospice care on April 13, 2024. She was born on July 12, 1949, in Kalamazoo, the eldest child of Arlyn & Lenore (Westerdahl) Pierman. Bonnie was a 1967 graduate of Galesburg-Augusta High School. She was an assessor for Kalamazoo Township, and she retired in 2009 as the assessor for Comstock Township. Bonnie was also a lifelong caregiver for her son, Paul. She was a lifelong member of the August Custer VFW Auxiliary #7956 and was a member of the Galesburg Congregational United Church of Christ. On April 25, 2007, she married Michael Knapp, and they shared 16 wonderful years together. Her family includes, along with her husband Michael, her son: Dennis "Paul" Berky; her stepchildren: Michael (Stephanie) Knapp, Jr., Wesley (Cassie) Knapp, Gregory (Sheryl) Knapp, and Jason (Illiana) Knapp; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; her siblings: Karen Blaisdell, Gail (Mark) Starr, and Craig Pierman; her nieces & nephews: Nicholas (Leslie) Blaisdell, Chelsea (Aaron) Grogg, Ian (Brittney) Pearce; her great-nieces & nephews: Miles Blaisdell, Aalyn Grogg, Weston Pearce, and Sadie Jean Pearce; and her special friends: Mary Swain and Brenda Murray. She was preceded in death by her parents. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 27th, 2024, from 2:00-5:00 PM at Augusta Custer VFW Post #7956, 13549 W, M-96, Augusta, MI 49012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bonnie to Galesburg Congregational United Church of Christ or the Augusta Custer VFW Auxiliary Post #7956 or Centrica Care Navigators.
