Bobbie Sutherland

Bobbie passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, August 27th at Park Place Assisted Living. She was born on August 7, 1938, in Montgomery Alabama. The second oldest of four children to William and Thelma (Standridge) Roberts. On December 28, 1957, she married her best friend, Lee Roy Sutherland. Bobbie was employed by Galesburg Augusta Schools as a bookkeeper for over 30 years until her retirement. Bobbie was an outstanding seamstress and created many items for numerous family members. During her years living at Park Place, Bobbie was fondly described as "the life of the party" and coordinated and participated in every activity offered. While at Park Place, she became a member of Bethany Reformed Church. She enjoyed life to the fullest, spending time at home and with family and friends. Bobbie and Lee enjoyed camping, traveling, swimming, snowmobiling, dancing, fishing, and playing endless hours of cribbage but their biggest joys were their children and grandchildren. Surviving is their two children Jeff (Janet), Sutherland of Climax, and Jodie (Mike) Stackpole of Schoolcraft; three cherished grandchildren, Matthew Beadle (Katie), Christopher Beadle, and Halie Kranenberg (Richard). She is also survived by one sister, Thelma Klosterman and one brother, Frank (Clara) Roberts. Preceding her in death were her parents; her spouse Lee; her brother Jerry; her brother-in-law Wilbur Klosterman; and her granddaughter Chelsea Sutherland. Friends may visit the family beginning at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, September 3rd, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. Rev. David Zomer from Bethany Reformed Church officiating. Interment will follow in Gilson Cemetery.
