Betty Mason

Betty G. Mason, age 96, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at the home of her daughter. She was born on September 1, 1929, in Iola, KS, the daughter of Teddy and Lula Henegar.

Betty retired from Bronson Methodist Hospital and Healthcare Midwest Surgery and worked for JCPenney and the American Cancer Society. She was active with Portage United Church of Christ, the Kalamazoo Garden Club, the Kalamazoo Garden Council, and the Kalamazoo Lioness Club, and volunteered with several community organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Donnie, Janice, and Bonnie; son Thomas; and husbands, John McIntyre and Budd Mason. Surviving is her sister Linda Sweany; brother-in-law Gene Vincent, children Tim (Becky) McIntyre, Kerry (Tom) Mohney, Anne (Lewis) Kamiri, and Martie (Don) Martin; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 1, at Portage United Church of Christ, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow.

Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Garden Council or to Portage United Church of Christ in support of Loaves and Fishes Weekend Food Packs.
