Betty Hamilton

Age 88, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Betty was born in Paw Paw, Michigan on August 9, 1931, the daughter of the late Arloe and Theresa (Brown) Markle. She was a graduate of Mattawan High School and retired from Mead Corporation in 1994 after 44 years of employment. Betty was an avid genealogist, traveling to several different states over the years, collecting information and keeping her family tree up-to-date and accurate. She loved ceramics and knitting and made beautiful sweaters, hats and other items. Betty also enjoyed doll making and collecting. On January 8, 1955, Betty was united in marriage to James H. Hamilton, who survives. She is also survived by her son, Steven Hamilton; granddaughters, Megan and Jaime Hamilton; great-granddaughter, Teagan Hamilton; brothers, Dick (Elida) and Don (Helen) Markle; sisters, Joyce Van Atta, Carole (Dick) Baird, June (Steve) Anson and Linda (Lynn) Wolf; brother in-law, Ted Ransbottom; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Hamilton; brother, Arthur Markle and sisters, Shirley Markle, Donna Ransbottom, Arlene Merica and Dorothy Merica. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, with visitation taking place one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery in Richland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kairos Dwelling.
