Betty Glen

Betty L. Glen, age 92, passed away on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, after a short illness. Born in Kalamazoo County to Charles Leon Leonard and Eloyse Rogers Leonard, she lived in Kalamazoo for almost 70 years before moving to Madison, Wis. Betty attended Kalamazoo College for two years before marrying William Glen and starting a family. She returned to college and finished her bachelor's degree at Western Michigan University in 1979, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Upon graduation, she went to work at Western's library in the Serials Department until her retirement. Betty is survived by her sons, Douglas and Charles; grandson, Harrison; 17 nieces, nephews, and cousins; plus, her last pet cat, Rags. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; daughter, Laurie Glen McDuffie; her parents; and three siblings, Barbara, Alethe and William. Betty enjoyed travel, music, reading, word games and gardening. A memorial service will take place at her church, First United Methodist, in downtown Kalamazoo at a later date.
