Betty Claire Evans, 87, of Kalamazoo, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 14, 2021at French Manor – Terra in Traverse City, surrounded by her family. Betty was born on February 14, 1934 in Kalamazoo, to the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Rysenga) Schascheck. She married the love of her life, Sam P. Evans on March 3, 1955. They were happily married for 58 years. Sam preceded her in death on May 7, 2013. Betty graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1952. She owned and operated Evans Ford in Galesburg. She was also a co-owner of Greco's, a popular restaurant in town. After the sale of the car dealership, Betty became a counselor at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Betty's faith was the center of her life. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She had a wonderful voice, and was a lead vocalist in the choir at Trinity Lutheran. She loved the water, with her home on Gull Lake, Betty would start swimming in the early spring and would continue into the late fall. Betty and Sam loved to travel and were able to take many trips with other Ford dealers, including two Super Bowls. One of her favorite pastimes was chatting on the phone. She leaves her family and friends with many fond memories. Betty is survived by a niece and two nephews, whom she loved like children, Susan (Pat) Burton, Andy Roseberry and Mike Roseberry as well as many cousins. She was preceded in death by a dear sister, Elberta (Earl) Roseberry. A memorial service honoring Betty will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007. Pastor Ken Johnson will officiate. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider and memorial donation to Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 S.
