Bernard Youngblood

Youngblood, Bernard Thomas "Bernie" Richland, MI Bernie, age 78, died Friday afternoon, September 11, 2020 at Ascension Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI with his loving family at his side. Bernie, the son of Bernard A. & Virginia (Dougherty) Youngblood, was born in Blue Island, IL and moved to this area in 1948. He began his work at Southern Paper Company; became a certified air compressor technician and retired in 2005 from Hammond Machinery of Kalamazoo. Bernie was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church of Augusta, MI for 52 years and had served as an usher for masses. He was an avid woodworker and outdoorsman. Bernie was a "Mechanical Genius" and was the Creator of many things. Bernie was united in marriage to the former Nancy Lee Paddock in Kalamazoo on February 1, 1964. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Nancy; a daughter, Barbara and her partner, George Ransome of Battle Creek, MI; two sons, Thomas A. (Audrey A.) Youngblood of Parchment, MI and Bradley M. (Missi) Youngblood of Kalamazoo; three precious grandchildren, Eida, Ian and Anna Youngblood; his sister, Rose Marie Creek of Delton, MI; brother-in-law, Jerry Paddock of Kalamazoo; sister-in-law, Esther Paddock of Kalamazoo and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 18th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, MI 49012 with Father James E. Richardson, Celebrant and Deacon Michael A. Carl, Assisting. Bernie's family will greet friends on Friday (Masks will be required and social distancing will be maintained.) from 10:00 a.m. until Mass time in the Church Social Hall. Private, family interment will follow in Yorkville Cemetery, Ross Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bernie's honor may be directed to the Church (see address above) or Ascension Borgess Hospital, Cardiac Care Unit, 1521 Gull Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49048.
