Barbara Zoutman

Zoutman, Barbara J. Kalamazoo, Michigan Barbara J. Zoutman, age 93 of Kalamazoo, died at her home on April 2, 2022. She was born May 17, 1928, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the daughter of Clyde and Dora (Pierce) Ellis. Barbara was a 1946 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. Always a hard worker, Barbara worked as an office manager at John Hancock Insurance, was a head cook at Parchment Schools, and retired at the age of 82 from the deli at Hardings Market in Parchment. On September 19, 1948, Barbara married Carl Zoutman. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother and caring for her family. They include her children: Carla Lewis, Jan Miller, and Steve Zoutman; her grandchildren: Eric (Amy) Lewis, David (Kelly) Lewis, Matthew (Wendy) Miller, Emily (Shaun) DeLorme, and Jonathon Zoutman (Heidi Richardson); her great-grandchildren: Tyler, Alex, Marley, Payton, Bo, Luke, Emma, Madison, Brooklyn, Sophia, Max, and Easton; her sister, Dena Stewart; her sister-in-law, Sandy Ellis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, her infant daughter, Karen, her son-in-law, Keith Lewis, and several brothers and sisters. Friends may visit with her family on Monday, April 11, 2022, from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shalom, Inc., 6276 North Riverview Drive, Kalamazoo, MI, 49004.
