Barbara VanDyke

VanDyke , Barbara J. 4/28/1947 - 5/14/2022 Portage Went to meet Jesus on May 14, 2022, with her loving family at her side. Barbara was born in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of the late Neil and Virginia (Pott) Penny. Barb was a kind and loving woman whose gentle nature made her a joy to be around. She was dedicated to her family, friends and faith, and was always available to those who needed her. On July 15, 1966, she married the love of her life, David VanDyke who survives. Together they raised two children and welcomed two grandchildren into the world. Barb was a hard and dedicated worker who was employed as Payroll Director for Bouma-Betten Construction Company until her retirement. When not working, Barb loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, was an avid reader and loved country music. She had a keen mind, made friends easily and always took time to remember the details of their lives including special dates and events. Barb's kind smile and warm welcome will be missed by those that knew her. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Timothy (Rhonda) VanDyke; a daughter, Amy (Duane) Monroe; two grandchildren, Brendan and Delaney Monroe; a sister, Marylynn (Jim) Higbee; a brother, Ron (Sharon) Penny; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends. She was also preceded in passing by her sister, Jackie. In accordance with her wish, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Chapel on Saturday, May 21, 2022, beginning at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Paul Fazio officiating.
