Barbara Ann (Hackenburg) Tatro, 84, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026.

Barbara was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and grew up in Sturgis, Michigan. She earned her associate's degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo before continuing her education in Cosmetology School. She spent over 30 years working as a cosmetologist, a career that perfectly suited her warm spirt, zest for life and love of connecting with people.

On November 25, 1987, Barbara married the love of her life, Fred Tatro. Together, they retired to St. Augustine in 2003, where they created many cherished memories with family and friends. Never one to slow down, Barbara began a new and highly successful career in real estate, working for 20 years as a top-selling agent in the area.

Barbara lived life fully. She enjoyed golf, tennis and traveling to new places. A true social butterfly, she never met a stranger. Her bubbly personality, infectious happiness, and genuine kindness lit up every room she entered. To know Barbara was truly to love her.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing her, and her legacy of warmth, laughter, and love will live on in the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her children, Todd Glassman (Marguerite), Tanya McCabe (Robert), Eric Tatro, Judy Swafford; grandchildren, Austin (Danielle), Ashley, Autumn, Remmington, Dashiell, Samantha and great grandchildren, Eli and Layton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Tatro and her parents, Ralph and Terry Hackenburg.

A celebration of life will be held for Fred and Barbara from 11-2:30 on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Marsh Creek Country Club, 169 Marshside Dr., St. Augustine, Florida 32080. They will be laid to rest together at a later date in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
