Obituary
Barbara Jean Terrell Kalanj, 87, of Paw Paw, passed away January 29, 2022, at her home. She was born September 13, 1934, in Gobles, Michigan. On July 16, 1955, Barbara was united in marriage to Frank V. Kalanj who preceded her in death. She is survived by her three daughters, Kim (Tom) Palenick, Karen (Chuck) Klett and Kathy (Jon) Kalanj-Martin, adopted daughter, Patty (Gary) Mack, grandchildren, Danial Smith, Lindsay (Wade) Thomas and Stephanie (Joel) Bernier. Barbara was also blessed with several step-grandchildren, great grandchildren and countless others who called her grandma. She is also survived by her sister, Marlene DePierre, brother Irvin (Deanne) Terrell and many nieces and nephews. Her beloved sister-in-law, Mary Rice, preceded her in death by just one day. Barbara was a lifelong parishioner at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Paw Paw. She worked for Hill's Prescription Shop and Taylor's Country Florist for many years. But the role she loved most was that of mother, aunt, grandmother and simply "Great", as she was known to her many grandchildren who brought her so much joy and kept her young at heart. Barbara preferred warmer weather, so a mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint Mary Catholic Church on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen officiating. Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery. In the meantime, if you'd like to honor Barb's life, please join us in raising your glass for a toast in her memory.
