Meadows, Arlene Palm Harbor Arlene Mae (Carlson) Meadows passed away on May 11, 2022, on her 94th birthday. She was born on May 11, 1928, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Carl Edwin and Ida Eugenia (Lundin) Carlson. She had two brothers, Donald Arthur and Loren David Carlson. Carl Edwin and Ida were Swedish and were raised in Minnesota. They came to Michigan soon after their marriage for carpentry jobs that were available in Kalamazoo. Arlene graduated from Western State High School in 1946. She then attended Western Michigan College for one year. On June 10, 1948, Arlene and Laurn Arthur Meadows were married at the First Church of the Nazarene in Kalamazoo. She and Laurn were members of Westwood United Methodist Church. When they retired, they split their time between Florida and Michigan spending half of the year near each daughter. Arlene was employed by Hartford Insurance Group's Claim Office in Kalamazoo. She retired after 17 years, in 1989. She enjoyed all kinds of needlework, especially quilting. She was an avid golfer. Arlene loved her family and friends and was a beloved mom, grandma, and Gigi to three generations of strong women. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Laurn Arthur Meadows, her parents, Ed and Ida Carlson and her brothers Donald and Loren Carlson of Kalamazoo. She is survived by daughters, Nancy Hendrickson (Bill) of South Haven, Michigan, Patti Williams (Gary) of Tarpon Springs, Florida, granddaughters Laurin Smith (Ryan) of Zionsville, Indiana, Katie Miller (Nick) of Billings, Montana, and two sets of twin great granddaughters, Sanna and Riley Smith and Elodie and Olivia Miller. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes burial and cremation services, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009 on Thursday, June 2nd from 11AM to 1PM followed by a memorial service at 1PM. Immediately followed by burial at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Arlene's name to Samaritan's Purse or Pinellas County Suncoast Hospice.
