Arie VanderPloeg

Arie VanderPloeg, of Pine Lake, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Arie was born in Grootegast, the Netherlands on March 10, 1945, the son of the late Teije and Willemke (Poelman) VanderPloeg. He immigrated with his family to the United States at age 12 and settled in Fulton, Illinois before making his home in Kalamazoo. Arie was a well-known automotive salesman who was especially knowledgeable with Pontiac Motors and Kenilworth Trucks. He was an avid car collector and enjoyed wintering in Port Charlotte, Florida. Arie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gerry (Potgiesser) VanderPloeg; sister in-law, Marja Wisser; several nieces and nephews, including special niece, Brenda Sinkovitz; and life-long friend, Hank Wolfis. Besides his parents, Arie was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Medenblik. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
